Three disciplines, one team.

Residua is led by three founding directors whose skills form a single evidential chain, from the chemistry of material traces, through computational inference, to the study of how knowledge is made and contested.

OM

Oscar J. Mayorga

Director of AI & Computational Social Science · Principal Investigator

Oscar leads the Institute's computational and methodological work, building the models that translate high-dimensional, noisy chemical signals into social inference at scale. He is the anticipated Principal Investigator on the Institute's flagship European Research Council application.

DZ

Daniel Y. Zipp

Director of Sociology, Ethics & Public Engagement

Daniel directs the Institute's social theory, research ethics, and public engagement. His ethnographic work studies how scientific claims are produced, validated, and contested in laboratories and heritage settings, and how findings move responsibly into public life.

Research team

Building the next generation

As the Institute secures funding, it will host a Principal Investigator and research team and recruit doctoral and postdoctoral researchers across its disciplines. Training and mentoring early-career researchers is one of the Institute's core objectives.

Open positions will be listed on our Careers page.
